Cover: This month in Steam Days we take a look at the duties of the main-line engines which were allocated to Cardiff Canton during the 1950s and 1960s. The BR 'Britannia' Pacifics were first allocated to this depot late in 1952, when five members of the class arrived, including No 70025 Western Star. This Cardiff engine is pictured on 29 August 1959 passing beneath Westbourne Park bridge, soon after leaving Paddington with the 1.55pm Paddington to Pembroke Dock train on that day.
