    Returns & Refund Policy

If something has gone wrong with a purchase made through the Magazine Exchange marketplace we are here to assist and protect both the Buyer and Seller as necessary, and process refunds as required. Note though that a Buyer's statutory rights are more limited than with most purchases because newspapers and magazines are amongst various product types specifically excluded from both the Sale of Goods Act and the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations.

    Incorrectly supplied items

Where an item has been incorrectly supplied, or not supplied at all within a reasonable time, Magazine Exchange will provide a full refund to the Buyer and claim back any payments made to the Seller for that item. Refunds will be made to the Buyer using the same method as the original payment.

If the Seller requests it an incorrectly supplied item must be made available for collection by the Seller or their agents.

The Seller may alternatively request the Buyer to return the item to them by post; the Buyer is not obligated to do this, and any return postage costs must be paid by the Seller.

If an incorrectly supplied item is returned to the Seller it must be unused and in the same condition as originally supplied to be eligible for a refund.

    Correctly supplied items

If a Buyer wishes to return an item that has been correctly supplied the Buyer must contact the Seller directly to make the request, which may or may not be accepted at the Seller's discretion.

If the Seller does accept the return of a correctly-supplied item then the item must be returned directly to the Seller, not to Magazine Exchange unless Magazine Exchange was the Seller. Whether return shipping costs are to be paid by the Buyer or the Seller for correctly-supplied items will be at the Seller's discretion.

For a correctly supplied item Magazine Exchange will process a refund to the Buyer when requested to do so by the Seller, which will be made using the same method as the original payment and usually only after the returned item has been received by the Seller unused and in the same condition as it was supplied. The timeframe in which the item must be received back by the Seller is at their discretion.

If a correctly-supplied item is subsequently returned to the Seller, and if Magazine Exchange has already made a payment for that item to the Seller, Magazine Exchange may require that payment to be returned before a refund is made to the Buyer

When a Seller has accepts the return of a correctly-supplied item they will usually still be liable for any selling fees due to Magazine Exchange on the original transaction.
