ON THE COVER- The Rev. A. C. Cawston, of Folkestone, has provided the photograph for this month's cover. It shows a semi-fast train from Glasgow, headed by engine No. 72000, Clan Buchanan. This engine was the first of the " Clans," which are similar to the " Britannias," except for a smaller and lighter boiler which enables a " Clan" to traverse routes that are barred to the larger engines.
