Cover Story - Wahine Part 1 - A steam powered ferry from the mid 1960s, built in Glasgow and delivered to New Zealand for use between North and South islands. Sadly her life was very short as after 2 years she was caught in a violent storm and ran aground on a reef near the entrance to Wellington harbour with many fatalities, this ended her career. Model maker Roy Cheers researched the full size version and decided to build an operational model of this ferry and this is described in two parts starting this month.
