SOCIETY COLUMN
DIARY DATES - Including a preview of the 2005 Festival of British Railway Modelling at Doncaster.
Welcome to the January 2005 issue of British Railway Modelling. The past year seems to have really flown by and it seems like only yesterday that we were preparing for our annual Doncaster show - The Festival of British Railway Modelling. Well, here we are again and on page 82 you will find advance details of the 2005 show. Pre-booking is now open, so why not take advantage of reduced ticket prices and the opportunity to get into the show before the official opening time by booking your tickets now?
We also have more details about our first Workshop Day, being held in association with the LMS Society at the Midland Hotel, Derby, on March 5, 2005. This, our first venture into staging a 'workshop', promises to be a unique day. Participants will be able to meet experts in several subjects including locomotive and rolling stock construction, buildings and structures, permanent way and signalling, as well as how and where to find information on modelling the LMS. Although aimed at the LMS enthusiast, the day is open to all as many of the workshops and seminars will cover subjects applicable to all railway companies, scales and gauges. Places are limited, so please ensure you reserve your place as soon as possible - see page 53 for further details.
Next month's BRM promises to be a real 'bumper' issue - our free supplement is a 48 page 'Club and Society Register' with contact details of model railway clubs, line societies, museums, miniature railways and heritage lines. In fact your first point of contact for the club and society scene in the UK and overseas.
We are also increasing the amount of space devoted to 'Diary Dates' each month aiming to make British Railway Modelling the leading publication to turn to for information on clubs, societies and exhibition listings. As we never tire of saying, there’s so much more to look forward to in BRM.
As this is the last issue before the Christmas break, may I wish all of our readers a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
