The exhibition season is well and truly with us and it was a great pleasure to take Gifford Street Sidings to this year's Manchester MRS show in October. In fact, I enjoyed 'playing trains' so much that I completely forgot to take any photographs. There seemed to be plenty of interested spectators in front of the layout with cameras, so a plea from the Editor - if any of our readers took photos of Gifford Street at Manchester I'd love to see them. We might even publish one or two in BRM and award a suitable prize for the best one. Video clips would be even better! While I'm plugging my layout, it will next be appearing at the St Albans show on January 8/9, 2005, but I'll have my own camera there! It was also a pleasure to meet David Stocks, Richard Dockerill and the Croydon MRS team at their recent show. Although I was unable to get there as intended on the Saturday to open the show, I travelled down on Sunday to award the prizes in the annual competition - two of which went to Richard for some of his superb N gauge locomotives. The occasion also marked the last public appearance of Acton Main Line, now retired from the show circuit. The Warley NEC show is rapidly approaching and the BRM and MRM team will be there on Stand 83. Nigel Burkin is also one of the demonstrators with examples of his D&E models on show. BRM is joining forces with Hornby to bring readers and visitors to the Wartey show the chance to take part in our Warley competition with £2,000 worth of Hornby products to win. To enter, either visit the BRM or Hornby stand at the show, buy the January 2005 issue of BRM (on sale at the show). Full details and entry form in the January issue. We are also pleased to announce our first BRM Modellers Workshop Day. Held in conjunction with the LMS Society at the Midland Hotel on March 5, 2005, it promises to be a highly entertaining and interesting day. Places are strictly limited, so it is essential to book early - details on page 39. Happy modelling!
