ON THE COVER: Led by the 737-500, the versatile 737 family fly in formation near Seattle last September. Formating with the -500 are a 737-300 in United Airline's colours and a 737-400 destined for KLM. Boeing have had an eventful year, with some technical problems early on, the greatest number of orders ever, and a long strike in the Autumn. The Boeing 747-400 is one of the types affected, and a status report on this aircraft by Geoffrey Cooper appears in this issue.
