Cover: This month in Steam Days we recall the days of steam at Brighton. In this scene a short goods train returning from Kemp Town to Brighton passes the site of Lewes Road station in the early 1960s, and the rooftops of Brighton form the backdrop. Part of the Lewes Road viaduct (since demolished) is also visible. Motive power is provided by LB&SCR 'E4' 0-6-2T No 32503, which spent its twilight years at Brighton, eventually evading withdrawal until April 1963.
