Tail Lamp a€" Readers' Letters Cover: The SLS/RCTS week's Scottish railtour of June 1960 is featured in this month's issue of the magazine and all the Scottish preserved locomotives were involved in hauling the train at various points, usually over the routes appropriate to the company that built each locomotive. In this scene we see North British 'Glen' class 4-4-0 No 256 Glen Douglas at Newburgh on 17 June on its way from Perth to Glasgow. Newburgh station, seen here with its characteristic iron footbridge, has long-gone. The line between Perth and Ladybank lost its passenger services in 1955 but was subsequently re-opened for passenger trains between Perth and Edinburgh in 1975.
