Steam working over Shap went out with a flourish in December 1967. One of the highlights of the last days was the use of BR 'Britannia' Pacific No 70013 Oliver Cromwell on a return Carlisle to Blackpool football special on Boxing Day 1967. Photographed in this issue north of Penrith at Great Strickland, No 70013 is being worked very hard, much to the delight of the photographer and the crew whose last run with steam this might have been.
