On Saturday, 5 August 1961 Collett 4-6-0 No 7818 Granville Manor waits to leave Shrewsbury with the 3.50pm train to Aberystwyth. Although when this picture was taken it was some 21 months since No 7818 last visited Swindon Works for a Heavy General overhaul some vestiges of the lined green livery can be made out as well as some of Aberystwyth shed's front-end adornments a€" white painted buffers and smokebox door handles dating from when Granville Manor was first-choice motive power for the 'Cambrian Coast Express' between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury.
