Cover: Ex-Caledonian McIntosh ‘2P’ 0-4-4T No 55124 (CR No 225) stands outside the shed at Ballachulish, between duties, on 13 August 1960. This locomotive had been moved to Oban from Perth, in the February of that year, to work the Ballachulish line trains, and survived until October 1961, when it was withdrawn from service at Oban, later to be broken up at Inverurie Works. Contents Page Image: In this issue of Steam Days we again ‘Take a different view' - this time of ‘Steam on Shed’, and more artistic pictures which create that special atmosphere that only a steam shed can give, will appear next month. In this scene, one of the less-glamorous duties of the shed staff is captured by the camera of Peter H. Roberts during the summer of 1965. With the 55B shedplate missing, the Stourton code has been painted on to the smokebox door of ‘8F’ 2-8-0 No 48670, seen at its home shed.
