The Locomotives built at the Southern Railway Works 3 - ASHFORD Part 2 1900-1952 COVER UPPER: Class '0V 4-4-0 No 31739 departs from London Bridge with the 12.44pm van train to Redhill on Wednesday 3rd June 1959. This 'D' class engine was built at Ashford in 1902 and was rebuilt there as a 'D1' in April 1927. COVER LOWER: The second of a pair of Co-Col diesel-electric locomotives built at Ashford, No 10202 completed in May 1951, waits at Crewe North shed with Stanier 4-6-2 No 46252 City of Leicester standing behind in 1953.
