They were built by Co/toff by combining the parts of obsolete 'Duke' and 'Bulldog' engines hence the hybrid name. The loco Is in 1936 period fnlsh. Though now carrying its original name the locomotives did not long carry such names in service as they were allocated to the more dignWed 'Castle'class. This type was popular on the Cambrian Unes because of the light weight
