Cover: This year, Berwick-upon-Tweed celebrates the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the railway, but the Royal Border Bridge was not opened until August 1850. The town's railways feature in 'Steam Days at Berwick-upon-Tweed' in this issue, and In this scene the 4.00pm St Boswells-Berwick train ambles across the Royal Border Bridge over the River Tweed on 25 May 1962, headed by BR Class '2' 2-6-0 No 78049. In the background can be seen the road bridge which was constructed in the mid-1920s, and also the medieval bridge beyond.
