The Pennine scene depicted on the front cover shows Buxton-based Stanier '8F' 2-8-0 No 48442 heading a Gowholes to Buxton freight train over snow-covered track at Chinley North on 3 February 1968. Also in the scene is a train of Tunstead empties from Northwich, hauled by Type 2 Bo-Bo diesel No D5276.
