Welcome to another news-packed edition of MRP. Has a month really passed since the last issue? Once again British Rail has chosen the introduction of the new timetable to carry out extensive stock alterations. Pullman services on East Coast main line sets are provided in one of three overhauled IC125TRFK restaurant cars. In this issue we detail the full diagrams for these trains, which shows how intensively they are used. We thank those valued readers who are submitting news for 'Rolling Stock Newsreel' and photographs for 'Photonews'. Please do read the note 'Editorial Contributions' on this page if we are to consider your material. On 29 May the GW150 Exhibition train was launched at Paddington station before touring the Region, and the opportunity was taken to show off two of the newly Brunswick green-painted Class 47s, and name two more IC125 power cars. The names City of Westminster and Westminster Abbey hardly seem appropriate on vehicles sporting LA (Plymouth Laira) allocation stickers — however striking, please Swindon let's have these vehicles based in London again — accepting the fact that the fleet is common user on any Western Region duty. The Exhibition train is very well worth a visit, and the sponsorship of Advance, Esso, Godfrey Davis, and Provident Mutual (each of one vehicle) should not ' go unrecognised.

The decision to close BREL Swindon Works is regrettable, especially when it has been taken just when the celebrations were getting underway. As we went to press the Open Days planned at Swindon had been cancelled as was the planned exhibition at the Works throughout August.

With the holiday season now upon us may we remind you not to trespass on the railway. You would be endangering your life and other's. A lot more news is assured for next month, so make sure you get your copy of Modem Railways Pictorial by 12 August.
